March 2023 hatch-a-long

Pics
Those should be okay, I likewise set some from a pullet hatched in July but she never put out eggs that were little, maybe bc of the shorter daylight of winter and she just came into lay later. Now out of curiosity I’m going to weigh some from these same ladies when I find their eggs in the nest box again (I put them back in general population already).
The Aug girl has eggs a bit smaller, but the others are bigger, still small. I will have to weigh some of theirs today. They had also only been laying for 2-3 weeks but we're laying about 4-5 eggs a week.

weighed some of my pullets eggs from yesterday and today. Smallest was 47g largest was 57g. Funny thing is they don't look it since they are short and round so look much smaller even the one that was 57g. Will have to take a pic next to my EE egg that is around 55g ave but looks so much bigger.

Here I go again! So happy…countdown starts tonight :wee

Decided to wait one more day to collect more eggs.

All the light brown eggs in this photo are guaranteed pure Australorp from my best hens. The dark browns are Australorp X FCM, the Olives are Australorp X OE, and the Whites are Australorp X California White.

I have 21 total and plan to overload my NR360 at first to compensate for expected clears and quitters.
Those greens are gorgeous!

I forgot to count.

I wanted to get them going because I need to have them ready to cycle out of the brooder by Easter, but I'll take them out, weigh them, mark them, and count how many of what breeds I have tomorrow morning.

And maybe figure out how to convince the NR 360 to actually accept the reset to start counting down and turning again.
I’ve had issues with mine, here’s what they sent me

Imagine the stress if you'd ordered live chicks. Now take a few slow, deep breaths and count your blessings. Fertilized eggs are still viable up to two weeks (even up to a month, but not as much) after being laid. As long as they're not exposed to incubation temps, they'll
All 15 Ayam Cemani eggs are here. All arrived in really good shape. Now just resting. 😁😁
Good luck! 🍀

Day 11- I’m down to 8/20 shipped eggs, mostly white shelled, but two Araucana and one marans are still going, yay! I have a feeling the white eggs will be colored Leghorns(“Italians”) and/or Hamburgs, but I won’t know until they hatch. One egg is small and skinny, it’s developing, but honestly I would never set an egg that looked like that if it was from my own flock. I paid for it tho so I’m gonna see what happens lol. Maybe the breeder packed me a random bantam egg (I did ask for a mystery mix of large fowl, but she added two freebies so who knows?)

Has anyone hatched a small egg shaped like this?

I’ve hatched small, pointy eggs from my cemanis. They were fine 😊
