Checked my last broody who was sitting on 10 eggs and was due today - and there are 8 little fur balls running around - they are so cute!

Candling tonight, day 10. Hopefully I’ll be able to see better through those dark eggs

Did you candle the ones under your broody at all?

My eggs are split half and half as far as being sloped and the size of the air cells vary between both of those pictures as well. I incubated for 3 days dry and that did seem to help the air cells develope a bit.

Wish me luck, we will know better after the weekend if it worked out all right.

Nope, I haven’t messed with the eggs once they are setting. I just listen on the hatch date and if I don’t hear anything, I lift her up and pull out the cracked shells and think to myself “where is the next coop and run going?”

What a crappy day 10 candling - I had to pull 5! One was pretty clear, and the rest were quitters I wonder why the just stop? I finally pulled out the two I put in from my last broodys hatch on Saturday. I will eggtopsy tomorrow, just curious how much they were all developed.

Really can’t see anything in the green eggs, but can tell by the weight they are solid. Only 14 left. I’m sticking with the hens

Aircell: Although I am much more confident then when I startet to breed. One of the few things I am still doing, is to mark the aircell. With the bigger part put on the upside my hatiching rate went really up. I am not so confident to rember where all the aircells where ;-). To keep the chicks from rolling the eggs I fix them with a string.

I forgot to say some of my bantam silkies went broody. Have put some eggs under them. First batch should be ready on Monday.

Just went on lockdown today with 10/12. Some looked to be internally pipped already, but hard to see with dark shells. I too have various sized air sacs. Odd. Hopefully we will have fuzzballs soon!

Where you store your eggs before you set them in the incubator? I am trying to collect 22 EE eggs to put in the incubator but we only get 4 big ones a day.

Most of the time I take them directly off the egg skelter. I guess that counts for turning!

I just keep them in my basement with the other eggs. I store all my eggs with the pointy side down (keeps them longer fresh). No turning (Saw a Video of someone who tried all different storing methodes and there was no differenc in Hatch-Rates)
