Throw eggs under her! Look at the cuteness!

she has 9 eggs under her on day 5 (last night) I took a quick peek at some and some are developing and some I don't think are. But my problem is she isn't going out to eat, drink or poop...... I finally carried her out yesterday, then one was pecking her she freaked and ran, another chased her so she flew up and freaked out and caused a commotion then my young roo started to go after her (think where he felt she was causing the issue) so she ran back to her eggs after only getting a couple bites of food. So I brought her food and water on the nest and she ate and drank a ton then I removed it. may have to keep doing that but she is going to have to move off the nest to poop.........

Maybe put a chick feeder & waterer near her but far enough she has to get off it for a second?

I hope I'm not over posting; I am just bursting with excitement even though it's not my first time hatching. It never gets old. I woke up to 5 more legbars for a total of 7 this morning and was surprised with 1 BCM hatchling. I am concerned for a few of them but will see how it goes until the 24 hour mark. I had thought of that but was more worried about the others coming in and bothering her while she was on her nest if I had the food and water in the coop near her. And she is in a bit "shared" nest box (big enough for 2-3 but no dividers) and 2 others use the other "side" of the nest box so I can't block her off plus I struggle to find stuff to fit under the poop boards so that makes it harder to block a section off. the nest box is out of the back of the coop but you go under the poop boards to get to it.

[Backyard Divas]

I'm new and still slightly confused. I have eggs, im 98% need to be thrown out. I've also read on dark eggs to track the air cells, but on these eggs I need throw out, the air cells are gowing. Is this normal the longer they are in the incubator?

This may sound weird, but I smell them. Granted I've got a pretty good sense of smell, but to me you can smell them if they are starting to go bad.

I had one that was fizzing on my first hatch and the lightbulb went off that THAT is what I had been smelling. Since then I take a sniff when I candle starting when I can't see what is going on in the egg.

Just got my chicks in the brooder. Grandma hatched for me. She threw in a surprise chick (the yellow) the others are australorp roo either australorp or Americana hen. I love the little gray one with the puffy cheeks. Hope it’s a pullet!

Yes but a little too short, one of the chicks managed to step on it's roommate and join a friend. Was able to figure out which one though. Was trying to figure out who came from what color eggs for future reference.

That’s a good idea, I’m going to have to try that.
