March 2023 hatch-a-long

Pics
Ok just made a trip 40 mins each way after work to get some corid for my current chicks. Treating them starting tonight thanks to a lovely lady to replied to my Facebook post saying she had some and gave me dewormer too. Chicken people are the best! Especially since the vet couldn’t come until Friday and needed a $200 deposit yikes!

Now my one little Polish I’m worried about sour crop. Ugh. I’m seeing it all with that hatch. Will check him tomorrow and know for sure.

Long story short I haven’t been candling the eggs for this hatch nearly as much haha

I’m sorry for your troubles, what an avalanche! I hope everyone is on the mend soon, and happy to hear that someone was able to help you with the medicines! I really need to go through my medicine box and make sure I have everything! I have a sick girl now, too. No idea what is going on, she eats, drinks, but I haven’t seen her in a box like her sisters, so eggbound may be an issue, but I don’t feel anything. Calcium, egg yoke and a close eye is what I’m doing. The hatch will turn it around, not too long now! 😊🤞🍀🐣

Oh if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen to me all at once at the worst time possible haha! All I can do is try and hope for the best! Hope your girl turns around and perks up. I’m just starting to build my supplies up. Need to review some first aid feeds and see what I can get on hand.
Sunday with baby chicks will definitely raise my spirits!

Day 15 - all 10 still looking good. One dark egg can’t see anything really and air cell is smaller on them. I saw a YouTube video that said the marans are harder to hatch. Wonder if this is true or just because people have trouble candling them.
GL!!! sorry I have no clue on marans eggs but I have heard that as well......

Isn’t that the way 🥴 I hope your week turns around and everyone gets better quick. Talk to you soon! 🐣🐣

tomorrow is lockdown and is it bad I am nervous to candle them all..... I had checked on day 15 ( I think it was it may have been day 14) and all were great.... peeked at a couple last night and one of those had quit, so day 16..... I did double check that one tonight to be sure and yup it was a quitter. So now worried I will find more quitters when I do a last candling for lockdown tomorrow........

last year with shipped eggs from this breeder I had great results with fertility and hatching etc. 28/34 (2 different hatches)!!!!! and think only like 2 quitters/DIS think rest were clears! This time I only have 9 eggs still going out of 18...... only 2 quitters. 4 I think where the hens had recently started back up laying I think they just hadn't been fertilized yet. but so sad to only have the 9/18. I do have 5 from my girls that are still going strong so in total right now have 14 eggs doing well which is a decent amount. LOL And have more eggs from the seller coming on Fri.

Took some individual pics. Going to try , and follow how each one grows/changes, especially since I don't know what breeds they are/come from (mostly mixes I believe).
