I’ve not seen a vertical line, either. Is it possible it’s like a blood spot in the yolk? I’ve noticed it from time to time when cracking eggs for eating. This seems like it would be sorta big in comparison, though.

I was thinking some kind of meat spot, too. I’m going to leave it for a little bit & see if it develops correctly anyway. So strange!

It is very odd. I have had what I think were meat spots but they were just little tiny dots that floated around.....

My hatch adventure started on Friday…WAY early in the morning and going until this morning. Staggered hatches are for sure getting me right now

I was able to hatch my friend 7 ducklings. 3 Black Bibbed, 2 Blue Bibbed, 2 Silver Appleyards. One of the Blue Bibbed has amazing coloring. It’s not ideal but she is just the cutest. I have dubbed myself Auntie.

I managed to hatch all 5 of my call babies. I have more going in lockdown, along with hers in 2 days. I was also able to hatch 5 Cemani’s but one passed away. I hatched one that looks like a Maran but I know she isn’t because of the egg. So her daddy has to be the Cochin because she has feathered feet and only my Cochins, Maran, and Russians have feathered feet. I also managed to hatch a pure Pavlovskaya (Russian) baby. And one cute will Cochin. More are in lockdown of the chicks and should start hatching in the next day or so.

Of the 5 Bantam Cochin Eggs I had in the incubator because I took them from my broodies. Someone in their pen is killing chicks so I took them to spare their lives.
3 hatched, 1 I helped because it had it's toe in the pip hole and it was completely absorbed and well ready to come out.
I was out of the house all day yesterday and apparently another one pipped and couldn't get out fully absorbed and had died.
One is left pipped in the incubator.
3 hatched, 1 DIS, and 1 pipped.

Update on my late bloomer - no progress overnight so I decided to investigate before turning off the incubator. I heard chirping immediately when I opened it and figured I should at least see if it's just trapped in there. It definitely was, she looks formed properly and all but as I was peeling away the shell and membrane, I caused a little bit of bleeding. I stopped right away as I had already done quite a bit. I could also see that her belly is sort of transparent looking and I am positive she didn't finish absorbing the yolk (clearly some is in there as it's big and round). She is pretty weak and one of her legs is tucked up from being stuck for so long. I put her back in the incubator and she immediately busted the rest of the way out of the shell. Time will tell, I don't have high hopes but at least I did what I felt was right and I'm prepared to cull if I have to at this point.

My first assist, Slowpoke, turned out to be significantly deformed. The shrink-wrapped chick from last week, Saran, was hatched with a curled foot but it fixed itself overnight without need of a chick shoe so I think it was just from being so badly stuck.

3/4 babies from last night are rose comb naked necks! Lol I’m excited, I adore their moms so much. The other is just a Bresse. There’s still 1 egg in the incubator, from my GLW but I have a feeling it will be half Bresse she hangs around him more than the SLW boy.

I have chicks hatching today in the hatch shelf in my dickeys cabinet and It drives me crazy. I can’t see ANYTHING in there

I guess I really need to upgrade to the transparent door.
