March 2023 hatch-a-long

Well, when I first put the eggs in, I thought it was going to be torture this whole time... yea, I wasn't wrong... but I did not anticipate the EXTRA torture that arises once lockdown is commenced! About half way through day 20 and still no external pips! I know I saw some beaks in the air cell when I candled for my last time on Monday, end of day 18... How long after internal pip should they be making the external pip?

Lockdown is torture!!!!! Are you sure it was beaks in the aircell and not just shadowing of them pushing on the aircell but not through? Normally if they have internally pipped and you candle you will hear peeping from the egg. You will hear it even if you don't candle when they are in the incubator too. If no peeping then going to guess they weren't internally pipped. It only takes up to 24 hrs from internal to external pip. Can take less.

Think I have a pic of shadowing and internal pip let me try to find them.

The first pic is shadowing. The 2 nd I think was right before it actually broke through to internally pip since there wasn't peeping then but was a couple hours later.

I’m in lockdown for my last sets of chicks before I put more in the incubator  . I have one chick that is already working its way out. And then later today the 38+ duck eggs will go into lockdown. I checked them yesterday and they were all doing fantastic! Really hoping for them to all hatched this time.

It is so hard. So so hard to wait lol. Every time I’m convinced that nothing will actually hatch.

I have a big pile of fluffers now. I pulled out the remaining eggs and put them in my brinsea where I can see them. There are about 15 left sone with pips.

Here’s list of pictures 😂 These include some I hatched for a friend too. ❤️ I’m going to do individuals today though…😁 I’m really excited about this next duck hatch though cause I have 38 of hers plus 8 or so of mine but mine are all White calls. She has SO many Call colors. It’s kinda like opening a box of chocolate…you have NO idea what you’re going to get with her eggs… or Christmas, still don’t know what you’re going to get. 🤣

Honestly I think looked more like the second.. I was pretty sure I saw a little mouth moving inside it.. I could obviously be completely wrong tho! As far as hearing little peeps... My incubator is in the same room as my brooder with a dozen 1 week olds right now... there is always peeping!!
