I have 7 eggs in due for March 1st! I'm super excited mostly barnyard mix but I have my first pure welsummer egg in there and it's developing right on track so far!!!!!

Short Story

Does anyone have a spreadsheet they like using to track their hatch?

Long Story
WOOT! Our eggs arrived today
wee.gif

I work until midnight so my honey and I have agreed to wait to until tomorrow morning to set the eggs (FRIDAY THE 13TH). We are calling them our egg babies as we already have garden babies started (ie brussle sprouts and other veggies). 6 Easter Eggers, 2 Buff Orpington, 1 Black Australorp, and 6 Combo Pack/Mixed Grab Bag/Hatchery Left Overs/Misc.

We are using a "standard" still air styrofoam incubator... no auto turner, no forced air fan.

I have tried hatching duck eggs in the past unsucessfully (wasn't sure if they were fertile, but didn't want to make any presumptions), and my boyfriend is super excited as this is his first time... so I guess we are both newbies. Regardless we are both pretty well "read" on the subject matter however textbook learning is always different than real world applications.

The ONE thing I keep looking for but can't find is a chart or spreadsheet that people use to log dates times temps humidity egg # weight, lock down, pipping, etc. Seeing as how this is our first time and that we are working together I think we need some help to know when/if eggs have been turned. And also if we are sucessful/aren't sucessful the information I think would be helpful for future hatches.

I'll post pictures of the egg babies later... Just waiting to get off

I'll be putting eggs into my new incubator on Saturday the 14th for a hatch day of March 7th. I'll be using eggs from my own flock and will probably fill the incubator to capacity (48 eggs).

Our flock currently consists of:

Cocks - Black Langshan, SS Hamburg, and Silver Laced Polish
Hens- Barred Rock, Speckled Sussex, SS Hamburg, Blue Andalusian, RC Brown Leghorn, Welsummer, Dark Brahma, and Black Langshan.

Some of the eggs waiting to hatch:

My auto turner came today :celebrate
Much faster than I expected, I've only gathered 25 eggs so far, I need 42 :/
:p
I'm also thinking I need a second incubator to use as a hatcher!

I just loaded four 1/4 Silver-laced Wayandotte 3/4 Polish/Sizzle/Unknown mix chicken eggs in the incubator this morning! :celebrate I am starting a breeding project! They are due March 5th!

I went ahead and put my 25 eggs in last night. My DH agreed that I need a second incubator, so I'll probably just end up doing a couple of staggered hatches :p
