Ok so question, today is technically day three. I candled a few of my eggs and they all have gotten really dark and opaque where the yolk is. I candled a egg I just got from the girls today and it was a lot clearer. So does that mean my eggs in the bator are doing good?

Thats usually how mine start out. It's probably a good sign.

Well, I don't think they're doing so well in the fertility department. I checked them a bit ago, and out of the first 25 I set, only 8 are showing development. I'm not surprised though. I just moved everyone to their breeding pens a few weeks ago, and I hadn't seen the roosters I moved doing much breeding wise. I've seen them mount the hens a couple of times since I set those eggs, so hopefully my second batch will be better. I'm leaving all of the first batch in for now, but I'm still collecting more eggs to replace any infertile ones. Luckily I have a second incubator, so I can do staggered hatches.

I am sorry to hear that I hope the next clutch of eggs are doing better.

A friend of mine gave me 11 cream legbars and 8 English Orpington in blue, lavender and lemon cuckoo. I also through in a wheaten maran and 4 of my EEs
Oh yeah yes this is my first hatch. I got the bator and eggs for my birthday.

how exciting! What bator did you get? My new Hova Bator 1588 just arrived today! Can't wait to try it out!

I got a little giant but unlike everything I've seen about them being not good, I've had no problems with keeping the heat and humidity right. It took a little over 24 hours to get it right but its been steady ever since. Its a still air so I have it set at 100° and 50% humidity. By everything I have read that's right where I want to be. Any advise?

Hello! Put 27 eggs from my own flock in the incubator last night, so, hopefully, I will be hatching out some chicks March 10th!
