kbarnes- I have 2 LGs, an older model and a newer digital model. I've enjoyed them, and my older bator has hatched quite a few eggs. I have great hatches, and I have horrible hatches (but the bad ones are always because I've done something wrong). They're not a set it and forget incubator, but for the money I can't complain about them. Good luck with your hatch, you've got a good variety of breeds :)

Hi everybody! I am hoping to set my eggs Friday. I have some being shipped that are due here tomorrow, I am keeping my fingers crossed because we are in the middle of a major winter storm with frigid temps :( I am a first timer and soooo excited and nervous at the same time. I have been playing with my new incubator for two days, I know I will be sitting there staring at it for three weeks. It is a forced air with an egg turner, I got the temp stable at 100, it kicks off and goes down to 99.2 before kicking back on. My egg turner that came with it was broke, incubator warehouse is sending a new motor, If I set the eggs before the motor gets here, is it ok to add it after I already start the eggs? Do I have to worry about it raising the temp too much, or lowering it when I first put it in because it is not warmed up? Sorry about all the questions! I have been reading the BYC forums for days now, so much good information! I look forward to following everyone's adventure!

I'm so excited!!!! I've been lurking around learning a bunch over the last few months and I finally....FINALLY!!....get to be part of a hatch a long!!!

Not sure of the total number of eggs I'll have, but I'll be setting English Orpingtons in black and black cuckoo. Coolest thing?!... These were on ebay and they're only a 30 min drive so I don't have to ship them!!

These will get set this week and I'll have to sit on my hands to keep from candling!...is there a designated support group for that?!
That is exciting! I LOVE the Orpingtons, once I have faith that I can do this right I would love to find some Lemon Cuckoo to try and hatch. Good luck!

I got a little giant but unlike everything I've seen about them being not good, I've had no problems with keeping the heat and humidity right. It took a little over 24 hours to get it right but its been steady ever since. Its a still air so I have it set at 100° and 50% humidity. By everything I have read that's right where I want to be. Any advise?

I have a little giant too! I am sorry to hear that.Your roosters must not be ready to breed just yet :/

Poult I'm having a great hatch so far. Everything I candled is viable. The only egg I can't see in is my marans. I was letting dldolan know what bator I got and where the settings were as well as asking others with the same bator if they have any advice for me since its my first time. Lol.

I candled mine and I have one that's developing for sure: the rooster that's over these hens is super lazy. Sheesh!

Oh lol misunderstanding! Well my little giant incubator i noticed is very very sensitive with the little knob on top if I turn it just a little the temperature changes dramatically.

I'm pretty sure one of my Silkies is broody. We have about 5" of snow on the ground and its freezing cold today (wind chill makes it feel like -9F). She's been keeping all the eggs toasty warm though! So, I'll probably give her a couple of days to see if she's serious and then I'll let her have a few eggs. This will be her second time, she did well the first time, but it was a lot warmer during her first go.
