i did buy some ascorbic acid but i think i missed the window on application, i will try it on my next batch to be set soon.

Ascorbic acid? I haven't heard of that one. What's it supposed to do?

improve survivability and hatching in the last week, it's that spray they sell on ebay and erroneously show a photo of a blood ring to support its claim. the data specifically states that it has no effect on those deaths.

dont forget to change my profile to include gray peacock pheasant eggs, they will be a week delayed because of the weather (nice of the man to consider that) but they will be in my march hatchings! i was told 21 days from him and up to 24 by another.

Ok my 7 day candle summary here for egg set on 2/17. i have mail order malay eggs (5 in bator & 2 under hen that wont count here) these are too dark to see, mix of mail order silks and showgirls -of 12 i have; 5 clears,2 blood rings, 4 good and 1 ??. of my own silkie stock of 6 eggs I have; 1 good, 2 blood rings, 1 clear and 2 ??. of my own d'uccle stock of 32 eggs i have; 16 good, 14 clears and 2 ??.

so out of 55 eggs, i have;
4 blood rings
21 good
20 clears
10 ???? (too dark or cant tell)

well that is it different papers say different things, some even presoak the eggs before putting them into and one removes the eggs on a set day and soaks them for a while and puts them back in. some even do multiple spraying. i am wondering if it may not just be an antimicrobial effect based on pH and if one should just put it in the water in the basin too.

It is the 5th day and I just candled my eggs and all but 2 are developing normally.
I collected from 1/30 - 2/18 and the eggs that are not developing are from 2/8 & 2/17.
