just wondering but do any of you keep the infertile eggs in with the rest of the batch just so that the temp will hold better? From what i read when i was researching cockatiel breeding the breeders would sometimes keep the infertile eggs along with the fertile ones so that the temp would hold more steady and keep the rest of the eggs warm since larger clutch= steadier warmth?

Oh my.....all of this talk about humidity has me very worried. I have 2 stupid styrofoam incubators. I went down and candled 2 reaaly quick, lock down is Monday and the 2 I candled are alive and well. The air cells look right....whew. I actually weighed the last 17 I put in so that I can make sure the air cells are right on that batch.

Congrats to everyone who hatched chicks this week, loved the pictures!!!! I'm giddy, excited and nervous. Can't wait to see some freshly hatched fuzzy butts!

My hubby got cold last night on the couch... Instead of coming to bed it turned the wood stove into a blaze. I lost 5 cream legbars due to the temps spiking up to 104. Three hens and a rooster. One was all white???.. Not yellow like it would have been a white bird but albino. Now I'm worried that the rest won't make it.

After hearing a byc member's experience with TWO exploding rotten eggs, I'd never do that...
Most people recommend regular water bottles to help hold temps.

Today was supposed to be hatch day for 8 of my eggs, there's nothing going on with them at this point. I'm hoping the power outages I had have just delayed them, only time will tell. If they don't hatch, I think I'll pack up my incubators until the weather steadies out some :/

Don't worry it takes time, they could be delayed. Sometimes eggs don't hatch on the exact day, sometimes they hatch a few days late or ealy

My incubators are usually pretty consistent, but they could be delayed by 16 hours or so, so I'm going to give them a couple more days. Luckily they're my own eggs, so no big loss if they don't hatch :)

Well that's good, it's nice that you have a ready source if a hatch fails. I do not. :( I'm hatching quail eggs that I ordered, and I don't have any other quail, if these quail hatch they'll be my first. If they don't hatch I'll have to spend another $30 on a dozen eggs :/

Good luck I hope they hatch
