Oh oh oh, and the addiction continues! We just set out the incubator for the 4rth round this season with another 34 eggs this afternoon. So the clock gets stamped for another 21 days, heh. I guess that means we are going into the April h.a.l. too. Or does this still count for March because that's when we set em up? If this new batch works out, they should be hatching at just about the same time our order arrives from Cackle Hatchery.

so...many...cute....fuzzballs....... cute-overload....

Okay, so we set 18 eggs on Feb 19, due to varous mishaps and infertility, we set 16 in the hatcher and overheated 12. We succeeded, however, in hatching 4, apparently healthy, Baby pekin ducks on the 18th &

20th,

We set 7 eggs on Feb 25th and 1 was infertile, 2 were early deaths, and 2 hatched yesterday, one of them with yolk sac and membranes still attached. A little heat and isolation, and he's doing great now.

Ok, I have to say this is the 1st time I have ever hatched eggs......and I can totally understand the addicting nature if it! However, I just don't have space to add more birds. ....so....I so appreciate all you people showing your cuties & stories (good & bad)...... So I can still get my hatching fix! I have my 10 babies that will be 2 weeks old this weekend. I do have 3 turkeys & 3 meat birds that are 3 weeks old, too.

Love the stories & pics!

I'm at day 20 almost to the hour right now. 29 into lock down, 4 already out and at least 7 pipped.

I'm super excited about the one in this pic. I dropped the thermomiter on it and smashed the egg really bad. Then I duct taped it. Then I took the duct tape off. And it made it!!

I have the same incubator as you and don't know how to use it . it didn't come with instructions for the automatic egg turner. Do you have one in yours? Could you tell me if you have to turn the eggs over at all or does it do it .I 'm thinking I would put the small end in first so they can develop properly right. There is a lot more to this than I thought and I don't want to end up hurting or killing any do to my stupidity. I need more knowledge on how to do this properly. Thank you for your time and help.

Good morning. If you have a Little Giant or Hovabator automatic egg turner, once you've put the eggs in the turner and plugged it in, you do not need to turn the eggs by hand. You do need to remove the eggs from the turner, and remove the turner from the incubator, three days before hatch.

Please read and rely on these instructions rather than any that came with your incubator.

Yes, the eggs go into the turner pointy end down. If you can't tell which end is pointy (it's tough with some eggs), then shine a flashlight to determine which end has the air cell. This end should go up.
