I have just hatched 18 orpingtons Chicks - but am so pleased with them am putting more in the incubator this week. Trying for 12 Buff and 6 Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons and also 6 Lemon Cuckoo Pekin eggs, so the UK will do the March hatch a long right with you all.

Fingers crosses for everyone!

Set Marans/mix, delaware or Del mix, and BBS Rock eggs and some purebred W/BW Ameraucana eggs for the first week of March! yay my first Ameraucanas!!! So I'm in. I also pulled some eggs from under a first time broody silkie, but don't have much hope for them, she's been very iffy about it.

Ahhh...The UK. I miss it. Although my hubby did delight a little too much in calling me an Essex Girl

Nearing the end of day one, with my lonely 7 eggs, all is right where it should be

I've got my fingers crossed for my very first hatch.

Hi there a newbie to the forum here, i have my second batch of eggs in the incubator been in 5 days now so due in march. 15 eggs in, 3 are creme legbar and the rest are a mix of light sussex, marans and orpingtons

Hi, I have a few BCM and Barnies due 3/2 and I have 14 each BCM, BLRW and Barnevelder due 3/5. Nothing after that so far as incubators are full but lots due between 2/23 and 2/25 so will have more going in when they come out. I have just enough room for some Lav/black split Orpingtons enroute right now so will be setting them a day after received. I'm just loving this forum! So much fun to share and read what everyone else is doing. I used to be alone in my chicken enthusiasm but no longer! This way when people come to pick up chicks I won't be bursting at the seams and talking their ears off. LOL

i have a broody golden laced wyandotte. been broody for a week so last night i decided to let her sit on 6 eggs. so we will see if they hatch around march 8th

Hi all,
Im new here, new to chickens, and will be doing a 1st hatch in March. Im awaiting the arrival of silkie eggs from a fellow BYC'er. Then am awaiting the arrival of bantam cochins from another BYCer next week.

Question: If I put the silkie eggs in the day they arrive to me, can I open the incubator next week to put the cochin eggs in without disrupting the incubation?

Congrats to everyone hatching and expecting.

I see there are a lot of new eggs being set. Best wishes, keep us posted!

clothdiaperingmom: Yes, no problem adding eggs, then they will be turned all at the same time. But.... when it comes to lockdown day 18 for the 1st batch, the incubator is supposed to stay closed till they all hatch & you won't be able to turn the 2nd batch every day until their lockdown day; besides, you risk the 2nd batch getting too high on humidity. So, the best thing to do is get them closer to each other & set same time or have another incubator to transfer a batch over to. Some people use the other incubator to do their hatches in. Good luck with all that!
