March hatch along

Once internal pip happens the chick can no longer absorb oxygen through the egg system.  Internal pip is the learning time to use its chicken breathing system not the fetus breathing system.  A chicken of any age that aspirates fluid into it's air sacs is nearly always a death sentence.  If enough fluid is aspirated to kill in quickly that is drowning, if it isn't enough to kill it outright, it will usually develop pneumonia and eventually succumb to respiratory failure.

Thanks you. That makes sense. Unfortunately it didn't make it. Poor little thing. I feel so bad. It's so strange. Most of its hatchmates had membranes that were starting to dry out. I eggtopsied and it hadn't absorbed all its yoke and still had plenty of liquid. It looked like it was a day behind in development. How is it that all these eggs can be set at the same time, be in the exact same conditions and environment, but be at different stages at the end? I had two that hatched a full day ahead of the others and then this one that hadn't even absorbed its yoke. So confusing....

Thinking of setting some eggs in. They would be leghorn hens black copper maran. Does anyone have these mixes. I think they would be great layers

I have some of those type of mixes fixing to hatch in about 2 weeks the guy had leghorns, marans, and andalusians all together pretty certain I will end up with leghorn maran crosses.
