March hatch along

Hmm :/ So how long DO you wait for chicks? I know ducks can take DAYS but yes I always hear chicks are fast!

I'm so sorry. I hope more will come.

I will wait until tonight at the very least but if nothing new happens by then , i might do some checking .

I read an article posted on this site called "A Guide to Humidity, Weighing, and Lockdown" (I can't post a link from my phone) it was very informative and answered all of my humidity questions. That may help you have a more successful hatch next time. I know my success rate is very poor, but I thought this one may prove helpful.

My fingers are crossed for more of your chickies to hatch. Good luck!!

Here are the 4 that have hatched so far....

I've read a lot on this as well and tweaked things a bit this time around.... If things continue along with this hatch it will be by far my worst results (other than when my thermostat got stuck on day 20 one time and went to 115) ever especially since i had 29 developing well myimage.jpegat day 10. I will continue to try to learn from my mistakes and improve next time . Two things i will do different next time is to get a second humidity gage and i am building a super high intensity candler so i can see into these blue and dark brown eggs. I dont think i will weigh my eggs but i am interested in checking the size of the air cells in the future.

I lost an entire batch of eggs last saturday my temp spiked to 110 and I was gone so did not catch I was so horribly dissapointed. I have defintly learned that this is a learning process I put in two new batches in a new to me red wood incubator and realized yesterday that the temp in the egg area was different then the temp where the door thermometer was located luckily it was warmer on the door but that means once again a delayed hatch grrr I just want one hatch to go right lol.

I am starting to get worried.... 3 out, 1 nearly out and 1 pipped. 1 other zipped but never made it out of the shell. No other eggs showing any sign of activity. My experience has always been that pretty much everything happens within 24 hours of the first pips . Right now i am looking at a 10% hatch.... I am so bummed . I am still holding out some hope but have to admit i am not confident at this point. The worst thing is that they were looking really good at 10 days... Looks like it is time to go back to the drawing board.

I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. I've had hatches with a pretty big spread of activity, from the first pip on day 19, to the last hatch on day 23. The more eggs you have in your incubator, the more variation you'll see. I still think that if you set on the 14th, you'll see most of your activity later today.

I had 2 more hatch last night. One is slowly zipping this morning. And I have a few more that haven't pipped yet. Marans eggs always hatch late for me.

I moved the rest of the chicks to the brooder. So fluffy!

How many did you get so far? I had one pip this morning so there is still hope that things will heat up today
