March hatch along

That's why I want them too. Eggs and meat.

I've never eaten it myself, but if I ever get my hands on some hatching eggs, and successfully hatch them...mmmm-good! Can't wait!

Okay, just candled my eggs and laid them on their sides. Let me see if I can get a good picture. I don't want to open the incubator again.
Okay...didn't really work, but here they are, lol
Everyone is still moving around and I even saw a foot! Its day 17 right now (well, the way everyone counts, tomorrow is 17,just depends on your time zone lol)

Not sure where you live . But I live in the US , in Central Kentucky and I always order mine from Ebay.

I think mine are a little behind, today is Day 18 and their not quite filling their shells so I'm going to wait a little while to lock them down. I received a tip from a breeder to tap the shell and listen for peeping, when they peep their ready for lock down so I'm waiting till then, I think. I'm so anxious, I just keep praying those 2 make it. It would be nice if they could hatch on Monday so I'll be there.

Quail are on my wish list too.

Another option for quail is for ordering day old chicks. They were ridiculously cheap when ordering 100+... I got mine from a hatchery in iowa maybe sand hill??? Dont remember... I ordered 200 and got 250+/- . They were really cute but very fragile. I had them in a large brooder and if they got far from the heat source they would just pile up in a corner and die.. They are super sensitive to brooder temps when young so you really have to make sure they cant find a way to get separated from the heat source. They can also fly well within a week or two from hatching so you need a secure cover. I always found it an adventure to feed, water and clean their brooder.
