March hatch along

Had the wife check.... No new pips but the 1st one is completely out and looks good.

Just got home... Still only 1 out and it is in the corner of the incubator so i cant see it! 3 more pipped but not zipped... I am hoping things will get going now after a bit of a lull. The eggs were set late in the day on the 14 th so i'm thinking the first one was just a little anxious and now the rest are catching up....

I can't get over how big this chick is. It's so tall it can't stand up all the way in the incubator! How this chicken got out of such a little egg...I have no idea. I'll get a picture when he finishes drying. (And yes, it's a he. Jaerhon/Black Ameraucana mixes are sex linked)

I can neither confirm, not deny that I got myself another dozen Marans eggs today...

It is sooo hard to stay away .... I haven't even hatched these yet and am contemplating another hatch of BCMs for this year along with whatever else i "need"

Yea ... I am seriously stressed out. Still only 1 out and three pipped. Added a little water i think it is too dry in there. I usually like the front window to fog up a bit but i am torn between more ventilation and more humidity...

I set 18 bcm and 18 frizzled ee around7:00 tonight so hopefully will be as good as my Brahma's and rlbw's. Anyone else set today?

So, when you're counting your incubation days, remember Day 1 is 24 hours after you set. For example, I set on the Thursday evening of Feb 13th. So the day 1 mark for me was the evening of Feb 14th. Another easy way to remember is that Hatch Day (Day 21) will always be the same day of the week that you set. I set on a Thursday, so my hatch day is a Thursday (late on a Thursday...right now actually!).

I used to count the day I set as day 1, and then get really freaked out when eggs weren't hatching. I was so relieved when someone corrected me.
