I often combine hatches... Havent had a problem yet. The age difference i ve done is up to three or four weeks. I always wait until the younger ones are more than a week old and very sassy. I move both batches into a new brooder and try to have more of the small ones than older. I also introduce some of the young ones first and then do the older ones one at a rime and then some of the smaller ones. It is good to do it at night, as suggested. You may get a little squabbling but never had a problem. I would be reluctant to do it if the older ones far out number the younger ones thoughI've combined different hatches when they were young like that. It's best to do it in the evening right before dark. They will all bed together and in the morning there will still be some discord, but it isn't as bad.
They will be fine.
One of my hens has made a nest on the ground and is currently sitting on some eggs...im wondering if I should move her?

My 14 Rhodebar eggs went on lockdown on Monday night. Due for hatch tomorrow. But as of this morning I have three pips , rocking and lots of chirping. One decided to start on the wrong end, maybe because its from a rather round eggs, the eggs are too valuable to remove eggs that were not perfect shaped.
