I absolutely agree. Change is always slow, hopefully as the market grows, more things will be available, more affordably, for backyard keepers, and small hobby farmers. The whole genetic thing for eggs is really, really bad for chickens, and the genetic studies going on for the virus are going to take a very long time to have any results. So we plug along doing the best we can with the options we have.

Marek's Disease is basically an avian herpes virus. They now have HPV vaccinations for teen agers and young adults as they have discovered that some forms of cervical cancer in women are herpes in nature.

There has to be a common root that is common in all herpes viruses whether they occur in birds or humans...or other mammalians. Unlock the secret and a REAL vaccine will suddenly be available.
