Marek's desease.Please Help!

I had a few birds with Marek's paralises.One wing,one neck, one leg and two older hens with trouble wallking.I culed them. Is it warted to vacsinate rest of the birds.They are 3 mo olds and one -two years olds? Where I can find Oxine for desinfection? Thank you for any response!

Once a bird has had Mareks in your flock, the rest of the birds have already been exposed to the disease. There is nothing you can do at this point, but that does not mean that all your birds will get it, or even one other. Rarely do older birds get the disease, its mostly birds under a year old. I have had it on my property a long time ago, and I cull when they get it, and that is usually very few. I used to vaccinate all my birds for mareks, which has to be done as chicks before they come in contact with your other birds or the coop. (I brood in my house). I have stopped vaccinating because I had little time, and have not had any other reoccurances. You COULD vaccinate your flock now, but as I said, once they have been exposed, it is of little use.
