Marek's disease - what next?

Hi all,

One of my chickens was displaying all the symptoms of Marek's disease. she was clearly in distress so my partner and I put her out of her misery. The first time I've ever done it and certainly not the most pleasant thing I've ever had to do.

We have another chicken who lived in the same coop. From what I've read, it's a virtual certainty that she now has Marek's. Is this the case?

Also, I know that the disease is not transferable to humans but would our cats be OK?
