Can the Marek's Vaccine cause mild symptoms of the disease in vaccinated chickens?

I don't believe that it will cause any symptoms. However, depending on age and exposure, it is possible that your birds are already exposed and that is why you are seeing some symptoms. I hope that that is not the case and thay you are just asking some general knowledge questions.

Here is a post that has some good information.

My chickens were vaccinated at McMurray Hatchery when they were born. I'm asking because they do have some mild symptoms. Three of them never seemed to grow in the feathers right above their tail. At first they had the downy soft chick feathers but when it came time to grow in their adult feathers they never came in. It looks like they have dry flaky skin. Somewhat yellowish looking flakes. They are all Easter Eggers for some reason. They don't have mites as far as I can tell. Two are roosters and one is a hen. I startd putting Blu Kote on them just to see if it would help. It seems like they are growing a lot more feathers in but not their downy feathers. One of the Roosters has very few tail feathers. I have 36 birds in all and the rest look great! Totally confused!

I'm not sure about the feather growth as I have never really paid to much attention to timing with my chicks. Are you sure that the flakey stuff isn't just the coating around the new feathers falling off?

Marek's can cause inflamed feather folicles, but they would be raised and red, sore looking. I don't recall lack of feather growth being a symptom of Marek's.

Anyone else???
