Mareks Vaccine

They are splitting their diluent to use it later....

Make sure your needles are sterile and that you clean the top of your bottle off everytime you poke it with the needle. It also helps if you can get a 50 cc syringe to use so you only have to poke twice. Use a new syring and needle for every bottle.

Just got 3 new vial of mareks vaccine from Twin City Poultry yesterday. It wasn't the Fort Dodge Brand. It was Merial. The dilutent is in a bag like the ones they hang on your IV pole. The vaccine is a powder instead of a wafer. I am tempted to sanitize everything and maybe try to use half of the vaccine powder and half of the dilutent. I"ll feel like a druggy and use a razor blade to cut it ????? Never done it before. Any suggestions ??? LOL To get it in equal doses.

Sure, give me a day or so, I need to find my camera !!! The actual vaccine is in a glass vial the same as Fort dodge just looks like it is powder.

The vaccine that Twin City Poultry shows on their website is Fort Dodge. I know he used to sell the Merial because I saw it at someons house that I bought some silkies from. Then when I called Twin City to get some he said they didn't make it anymore or ????? So you got me, I don't know what's up with that but maybe I'll have better luck with the dilution.

I'm headed out to dinner right now and have to tend to the chicks when I get home but I will try to get a picture tomorrow for sure. Gives me a good excuse to clean off the table, think that is where the camera might be !!! LOL

If it is in a vial, I would believe it is supposed to be frozen in nitrogen:

I probably worded that wrong, it is in the same little bottle that the Fort Dodge mareks vaccine comes in. I guess that is not a vial. It just says refridgerate. Sorry

Nope, that is not the one I got. It comes in a bottle just like Fort Dodge only powder. The dilutent is in a flat IV type bag, just like the ones I've had hung on an IV pole in the hospital.

Wish I could find my camera, Jeezzz Lou ezzzzz !!!

I just looked on my Twin City Poultry Receipt and it doesen't even have a item number just says MAREKS VACCINE 1000 dose.

Here is their number and website if anyone wants to order or to find out more about it directly from Twin City Poultry Supplies 614-595-8608 www.twincitypoultrysupplies.com

The vaccine is $19.95 and the shipping is $8.45 when you order vaccines. Otherwise there flat rate shipping I think is $6.95 They pack it in a nice styrofoam cooler. The extra $1.50 covers the cooler.

Ok answer me this. If chicks that are hatched from the hen naturally are not vaccinated.....they why vaccinate hatching egg babies? Im really confused by what is best to do. I am hatching out my flock this year from hatching eggs. And are purchasing day old chicks from a breeder. Who gets vaccinated and who doesn't? The chicks will be 2-3 days old when they get here. And of course not everyone hatches at once in the bator? HELP me to understand what to do in this case. ~Frazzled~
