Your birds are absolutely beautiful!!!! I love my little Calls and am thankful that they are drakes because my 9 Hens can be heard from my house to the end of our street! They are soooooo loud if they see me or hear me. Great watch ducks though as they will sound off during the night if they see something or hear something. My neighbor told me she loves them as they sound like they are laughing, lol. They do too!

I have a neighbor that says the same thing!
😄 she's hearing my cayugas though.
Even though the calls are much louder when they get cranked up the Cayugas sound off more frequently.

Hard to judge distance, but it's around 200 yards at least. Shoot - might be 300.

Ducks are back here a bit (arrow - behind the trees), I can hear them plain as day checking my mail. I'm standing at the road here.

My Mallards and Rouen Ducks were never this bad until I got the biggest mouth Khaki Campbell that can almost break your ear drums when she starts in. That gets the rest of them going as they think they are in a Choir, lol.

Your right about the alerts too. Nothing moves through the yard without you hearing about it. However it could just be A turtle or a frog or a crawdad.
The facinating thing here is, The hound knows the difference between when they are alerting because they saw something and alerting because they want attention. And he can hear them from the living room even when i can't and busts out the back door to go see what's up.

That's great that the hound knows the difference between their alerts to you. I think ours see the neighbors cat in the middle of the night. I can't get up every time I hear them because of getting up at 4am to drive the school bus.
