Mare's Illegal Cute-ness (Call Duck) Chat Thread!!

2 days ago I put in 2 dozen Call eggs from the lady I got mine from, into the incubator. I put 5 of mine in…hoping they all do pretty good. She has so many more eggs coming and another pen that hasn’t started laying yet. I got to see 5 of her babies she got hatch and just so much cuteness! Even though I’m hatching them for her I’m so stinking excited!!

Couple questions. I put 4 butterscotch call duck eggs in on Friday to check fertility. When should I start turning, should I use the auto Turner in my Nurture Right 360 or hand turn?? I'm keeping humidity around 40-45% in dry Colorado.
I turned them starting on day one. I used an auto turner.

I also start turning right away, since they lay on their side in a Nurture Right, I let the turner do the work. Some prefer hand turning, it’s whatever you prefer, but it seems to be consensus that duck eggs do better laying down. I love my NR360.

40ish humidity sounds good for dry conditions. Keep an eye on your air cells and adjust accordingly, if necessary.

Best of luck! Keep us posted. :)

I just got an update from the lady I’m helping hatch her Calls, and she has over 30 ducklings and more still hatching. When I picked up the 2 dozen I went to see her eggs and the 5 that was already hatched. She had 6 incubators going and 3 were in lockdown. Im so happy for her having such a great hatch rate. I really hope I can get the same kind of out come for her. 🤞
