I know some of you raise rare varieties so I thought I'd pick your brains.

This year I have several clutches of recessive blue Narragansett Turkeys. These are out of the poults I purchased 2 years ago from Porters.

Last year I sold all but one female locally. This year I'd like to sell to people looking for this rare variety. I have no idea how to reach these people. Any ideas?

I posted a for sale listing here but so far no response.

Craigslist
But I have had some people with different ideas of how to transport them.
They want to tie the ankles and put in a feed bag...or put in a cat size carrier . This carrier was after I asked repeatedly if they had one. I ask now for a picture of the carrier they are going to use.
I have lent a carrier 2x to different people and did get the crate back both times.

If you want to legally sell them out of state, you need to get NPIP certified and will most likely need to test for Avian Influenza depending on which state they are going to.

I know that eBay allows the listing of hatching eggs.

Thank you. Ah, I forgot about NPIP. Embarrassing since I used to be a tester in Illinois.

I'll need to research missouri and find out about testing for Avian flu.

Ebay for selling eggs sounds like a great idea.

Oh no those are horror stories. I would never have thought someone would come with a grain bag ready to tie their feet together.

I have sent them away in big boxes I provided. One family put the tom in the box and wouldn't let me close it. He road home in the backseat of their truck in his open box happy all the way.

They only lived 10 minutes away. Thank goodness.

I'll need to ask more questions when/ if someone contacts me.

I did put a listing on Craigslist. We'll see if I get any response. Nothing so far but it's only been a day.

Isn't that how people typically transport peafowl?
Yes, they restrain peafowl to protect their tail feathers for transport.

I'm not sure about the grain bags. They'd need to be able to breath and have ventilation to keep them from overheating. I imagine this worked well when we used burlap bags for grain. All my grain comes in plastic these days.

Back when burlap sacks were common, they were an often used transportation method.

People have shown images of chickens rolled up in newspaper on a car seat.

Thank you.

I had a mother and daughter wanted to turn the turkeys loose in the back seat. I did tape the turkey's legs together and put them on the back seat floor. They made their 60 mile journey safely.

Another fellow turned chickens loose in the back of his CJ Jeep. When he came back for more, he did bring a cage.
