Maryland Poultry Swap and Farmers Market JUNE 16th 2012 SHARPSBURG, MD 8-2pm **SHOW CLINIC**

Everyone is broody here! I was finally comfortable with how many mille fleur cochins I had hatched and was excited to make some money on egg auctions and guess what? EVERY SINGLE hen but two are broody. That's like 8 of them. There goes that! It's funny how some people think we as breeders make money off of chickens. I would love to know how to do it. Mine is a money pit. Fortunately, I love it and can make a few bucks to break even here and there enough to be able to do what I love.

Looking forward to Chickenstock This Sat. I sent out a heads up in my newsletter last week and updated the old blogspot. http://wvchickenstock.blogspot.com/ It still gets traffic. Hopefully, it'll be a nice turnout... Im still looking for a nice wellie roo... if you know of any Tonya? or anyone. I can pick up at TSC on the 21st.

Erin I will have some jg cockerels some that may end up show quality,2 -2/14 hatch blrw cockerels and I have a few lavender am chicks left and , blrw, jg and oe ,ee chicks I may have some call ducklings if they keep hatching and turkey poults. I have a few I kept to see which I want to keep as breeders that may be there too. It is possible we will have slw's for the swap too.
I just set more eggs and both dickeys are full and I have 4 out of 6 trays in hatcher full too.
So I will be loaded with chicks of all ages nothing older then 2/14. I hope to sell out at your place of all my non keeper chicks. Then I'm done hatching unless I get orders.
I have two lines of sq welsummer eggs in bator too.
So I may have a young cockerel hatch out of them you may like by time of your swap.

Sweet about the wellie roo. I have so many other things going on I can wait til this Fall to hatch out some of them for myself. I have "off colored" mille fleur cochin culls coming out of my ears. I will have tons of those for really cheap and all ages. They will be SQ typed and just gorgeous birds. I'll also have jumbo coturnix quail, olive eggers (wheaten marans over wheaten ameraucanas) and some black rosecombs.

I chatted with a fella who makes awesome wood crafts here in Sharpsburg like fishing rod stands, vintage looking cupboards, etc. and he's coming along with several of the vendors that usually attend the Sharpsburg Heritage Festival. Everyone I talk to says they've been to the one last year or they heard about it and are going to attend this year so, it's looking good. I just hope we kick this quacky weather. We were a bit overwhelmed with the food stand last Spring so the Fire Hall is taking that over. We will still have the pony rides by Pony Express and the moon bounce.

I placed a 1/4 page ad with the Poultry Press and will hit the Buyers Guide as well as the Valley Trader next month. Flyers are posted on the website and on the first page. Please print and take to your local feed store.

I've been selling a lot of chickens off of the farm and ask everyone to take a flyer to their local store so, right now we're in Woodstock, VA, all around Baltimore Co., parts of PA who know where else

That's great news. I'll print some flyers off and post. I did not see one in river city Monday. I'm there every wk just about so I can post one if I don't see one when up there.
Ill post one on my site too. For some reason the farm name has taken off and I get emails just about every day.

I've noticed that about your farm name. I am getting about 40-70 hits a day on the site. It's pretty scary actually because this didn't happen until a couple weeks out last year

When I click on the stats, I can see that a good many of them are from clicking on a link on your Soaring Hawks Farm page.

Since Tammy won't be able to man the Show Clinic this year... very bummed about that... I have an email into the Maryland State Poultry Fanciers Association president. Hopefully, he can round up a few folks to help with it. I really want to be able to actually sell chickens this year.

hey Erin... I came looking for your swap today.....
was trying to decide if I should put eggs in the incubator or feed them to the dogs :)
since you are doing the swap... I'll incubate them.

I will have everything available........ chickens, peacocks, geese, goats.....

I have Ameraucana and bantam Cochin chicks coming out my ears... And I am still expanding my MFC flock. I am also after black bantam Cochins.
If I can get my NPIP done, I'd like to bring some birds down again.

ETA: I am also searching for a very nice Wheaten Ameracuana cockerel!

I will have 14 show quality Black Javas too.
Had another call hatch so I just may have some there to!
I got two wellie eggs in l/d and I have 11 more same line doing great to soon on the next 11 from another sq line.
It is looking good as to having some for you Erin.
I may keep a couple for the oe /egg coop but I may sell all of these. Not sure yet since I got my #1 pick on the dk eggs to hatch I may stay with them only.

none just have to be tested clean for Ai or npip if in md. there is a fee to set up but worth it and we let msbear know just so she can post what and who may be there.
i would just to be sure with msbear as she may have changed things up.
