Maryland Poultry Swap and Farmers Market JUNE 16th 2012 SHARPSBURG, MD 8-2pm **SHOW CLINIC**

I did a dry run to see if all my cages will fit in the car and it seems like it. I am not sure I will have room for boxes to put the birds in for the buyers or my cooler and canopy, but...

I am bringing...

- 3 Lav Orp pullets (10 months old)
I may have a Lav cockerel with them from another breeder. Depends on if I can catch him.
- 1 black Mottled bantam Cochin rooster (decent type, was part of my MFC project)
- 1 calico bantam Cochin rooster (was part of my MFC project)
- 1 chocolate bantam Orp cockerel (4 months old) - I may bring 2, but not sure yet.
- 1 pair of blue LF Cochins (rooster is one year old, pullet is about 2.5 months - From different breeders)

Plus, not sure how many, but Blue Wheaten/Wheaten Ameraucana chicks between 1 day and 4wks old.

I had to see were things stood before I could commit to a definite list. ;)

Hey Erin
I'm adding my first line of Blue JG's I have 34 chicks of my new line and after a lot of thinking we are just going to do one pure line.
I have a Splash Rooster over Black hens there is 3 bloodlines as 2 hens are Porto lines,2 are sunangles line and the Rooster is Wynettes old line. They should give you 100% blue chicks.
I also have a trio of Khaki call ducks (sorry if I have added them already)
I have chocolate and pastel x chocolate, khaki ducklings there too.
I will have over 100 started birds. Heck I may have to bring a 10x10 kennel to set up.
Forgot the Rooster for sale with the blk hens is the one in my avatar.

Will anyone be there selling showgirl chicks? Please PM me if you are, I'd really like to reserve a couple. Happy to paypal you for them now and pick up at the swap.

Thanks so much,

Lynn

There is no feed store in Gore. In fact, Gore has a general store/gas station, fire station, church and trash dump and that's about it. Those of you that go to the Cove, it's about 1 mile east of me. We can see the rock cliff from our house.

I am so excited about the swap'. I am driving from VA on the 15 th and pitching a tent to be there in the morning! I have just thought of an issue, however..... If I buy my chicks in the morning, what am I going to do with them while I am walking around looking at everything else, watching the demonstrations, etc? What would be great would be a chicken check... Like a coat check at a resturant but for chickens! Lol... What do people usually do?

Maybe the vendors can hold your chickens until you leave OR you can bring well ventilated cages like dog crates to take your birds home in and keep them in your car with the windows down. It should only get up to 81 degrees. Just check on them often. ...maybe get a bag of ice in the morning and lay it next to the crate??? dunno.. just trying to help

Tonya, I updated THE LIST which is looking very expansive right now. so excited.

Everyone, we are looking for donations for our door prizes. Chicken art, old watering cans or antiquey (sp?) stuff, gardening supplies/books anything like that would be greatly appreciated. We can't do live animals but, we can do hatching eggs.

2creeks, if you have any more of those calls, we would love to get one or two for the door prizes

Also, anyone who would like to donate quality pairs or trios to the silent auction, please pm me. The MSPFA is fundraising at the swap and all auction proceeds go to benefit the club.

Hello everyone! This will be our first swap as we are still pretty new to raising poultry. We are driving down Sat morning from the MD/PA line. What is the testing requirement if your flock has recently been tested? We are in the process of officially filing for our NPIP # but don't have it yet. I would have some Serama chicks, silkies and showgirls to sell if I can.

Hi there, you will need pullorum testing done and avian influenza testing done. The AI testing needs to be done within 10 days of the swap. You should test 10% of your adult breeding flock up to ten birds. The tester you've been dealing with will know exactly what you'll need. Good Luck
