Maryland Poultry Swap & Farmer's Market **UPDATED w/ PICS pg.43**

Our County fair added a conservancy class this year. My kids got a couple mottled Java's to enter. Hatchery birds but didn't know where else to get them. So far they are pretty nice. We weren't planning on keeping them after the fair so if anyone would like to work on them they will be available, I do know they are pullets.

I think that is a wonderful idea!!! I currently have Ancona ducks which are listed as critical. Heritage breed conservation is a pet passion of mine. Do you have any breed in particular you were thinking about?

I would have to do a little research. I don't know which are cold hardy, flighty, etc. I've only been thinking about it, lol. Wondering if anyone in the area even has any of these already?

ok.. the frederick fair ends on the 24th.. should we bump it back a week or do they coop out earlier than the last Saturday?

I have 3 on that is already -Java, jg, Wyandottes
I cut out some Wyandottes just for the Javas and jg to help those breeds out. I have the rarest of the Javas. So I'm already a few steps ahead on that one,but I agree these do need all the help they can get and they are great birds.
I already am looking for the next breed I want to help if I get room or drop a breed for not working out.

I love this idea! I really gor rid of alot of birds at the last swap so I could begin working on some projects...will also research who is on the critical list...may already have 1 breed...but not sure..

Tonya...what is jg? Sorry not to know.
