Howdy again and new hellos to:
Doormantnt and aggieterpkatie

Trying to get ready for Winter and to work out my garden scheme for next year. My lil flock has wrecked havoc with the raised beds they were given access to. Next year it might be a good idea to have a THICK cover crop on all but one bed they can destroy . . errmm I mean forage in. I have one cherry tomatoe left on one of those round wire supports . . so funny . . it is all bald on the bottom and each day the roo at least goes over and plucks the leaves he can reach . . yeah I read somewhere they do not or should not eat tomatoe leaves . ."shrugs". As expected they do LOVE comfrey . . next year I need lots more plants!!

Anyone going to the Frederick Poultry show in November?

Also if anyone gets here to Western MD give a PM or email . . we could have a lil chat about the area if nothing else.

I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place. Yesterday as my brother and I drove through North Carolina we stopped to help an older man fix a flat tire on the side of the road. In all normal circumstances that would have been it and we would be on our way. Unfortunaly this VERY nice man insisted to give us 2 chickens for our help. I live in Columbia and there is no possible way I can keep them.

They are AWESOME and suprisingly friendly but in a town that takes a permit to change the color of your front door keeping chickens is a big problem. I dont know anyone with a farm and I really dont want to take them to animal control. Is there anyone on here that would like them? I do not want anything in return, just a good home for these awesome little birds.

They are bantams according to the farmer and pretty small. Even if you dont have a home for them could you tell me what type they are?

Thank you in advance!!

Mike

Mike - I sent you an email response from your craigslist post. I can't take another rooster but would take the hen if you can't place her or need to get her out in a hurry. Also, am sending you a pm about other options to try to place them.

Hey, does anyone know somewhere local I can pick up some new babies for a broody hen to foster? I was hoping to get some Easter Eggers, Marans, or Welsummers. Heck... I'd love to have some Khaki Campbell's and I'm sure she'd mother them too.

I'm in Baltimore County (close to Carroll County). I can't get over how many Marylanders on on the BYC site!
