They are all in Loveville off of or close to RT5. There is a Place right where Rt5 and Rt247 come together in Loveville. He has a big sign that says fresh eggs. Right past that is Pincushion Rd. About 1 mile down Pincushion there is a big sign that says Pullets for sale That business is called The Silkie Coop. Most birds I have seen are hatchery chicks. The first place I mentioned has Adolescent Guineas and Red Sex links (and call ducks). The Silkie Coop had RIR, Austrolorps, Barred Rock, Silkies and a bunch more 6 week old chicks. There is a large feedmill in Loveville. If you stop there they can point you in the right direction.

I know right where that is;) Thank you.

The Amish critters are hit or miss. I have clients who buy Amish bred dogs, and half the time, they are a disaster. So I would look, but be careful myself.

Hate to be a buzz kill but thought it was well known that some Amish are notorious for puppy mills. It's not too far off the mark they have "secondary" chicks. I've spent years working with the Humane Society and Change.org to get better regulations, more humane treatment for puppy mill dogs. Please don't buy from anyone like that. Often times the poor dogs are housed behind barns, etc where the public can't see and have no idea that it is a puppy mill. If someone has several breeds of puppies or takes credit cards, it's a sure sign you're buying from the wrong person. I myself would rather buy hatchery chicks than some from Amish. Of course, there are always exceptions. I'm not trying to push my opinion, but the better we are informed, the better decisions we make. Hope this does not offend anyone. That is not my intentions. As G I Joe says "Knowing is half the battle!"

Oh, I'm right there with you. Half the time, the puppies I see are a worm ridden, lice ridden, unsocialized mess. But the client is all happy about a deal! And then they get my bill for fixing all the issues. I'd be worried about the same with poultry myself. Buyer beware and all of that;) Look, look harder, and think hard about it.

If you want to sell hatching eggs or birds across state lines you have to have the ;permit. If not then you don't. You can sell in your own neighborhood without it I think.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. There is so much stuff out there that says a lot of conflicting things, some if you are commercial other things if you are not. I know the NPIP testing agents list is not updated as we were making our calls some had not been doing it for a while.

If your going to show a lot or sell birds you should consider becoming a testing agent. The state will no longer test birds, they have gone the private route. They have testing classes periodically, takes a couple hours, then you become a certified tester. I did this in Feb of this year. Now I don't have to work around a testers schedule I can test when I need testing done. Just a thought

Where do you find this information for becoming a tester? I have searched high and low with no results. The kids have started 4-H and I would like to get them into showing birds as well as rabbits.
