MARYLAND THREAD!

Will do. Can u post your pics of the playhouse coop? Your plans for the ghost town sounds interesting, keep me updated.
For the duck pen, I have a pond next to the house so it will go close to it, haven't thought of how it will look yet, ill search on plans. It has to be pleasant as we sit on the porch and admire the water fountain in the pond, so the duck pen has to compliment the pond.

I will try and get a picture of the coop in the next few days. Believe it or not, I don't have one. Well I do have one but its a picture of it on the back of the tow truck when I had it moved here to our new home this past November. hahah Been spending most of my time tilling up a new veggie garden plot.

You lucky duck.... you have a real pond!!! NICE! I feel no matter what you do, you will have an amazing place to sit back, relax and enjoy the view and animals. Can't wait to see those pics.
ouch what is that...oh its my jealous pains. hehe

If I do go Ameraucana's, does anyone know anywhere I can get them around here? I can order Easter Eggers online, but I am not really sure I want those verses the more pure bloods instead as I don't understand the difference enough.

Thanks for all the help and advice :).
I got mine from peachick, that's her username here. She's up near Gettysburg, and her birds lay almost a turquoise egg. Her website is Signature Feathers.

you are too funny. how big is your garden plot and what are you planting this season? it's taking me forever to get done with mine, mainly because i'm on the computer too much.

Too much algae growing in the pond I keep hinting to H, we "need" ducks to eat them, crossing my finger for him to cave in soon

haha.. As big as I can get it without killing my body in the process. Right now, I only have some potatoes and sweet potatoes in. Hopefully, this week I can add some tomatoes, pinto beans, sweet peas, green beans, cucumbers, and lootttssss of hot peppers. Next, week a few more things.

I'm gonna cross my fingers, and toes for ya. Shoot, I'll even cross my eyes if I thought it would help ya get some ducks.

Good gracious... I'm up to my ears in baby chicks. Hatched out tons today for the Easter Hatch Along. Hubby asked does this mean we can put away at least one of the incubators?? hahahaha nope, I got two more dozen to put into it tomorrow. Cream Legbar, Black Copper Maran and crosses of both.. love me some olive eggers. I think its time to put up another craigslist ad.

HAPPY EASTER and GOD BLESS EVERYONE REAL GOOD.

Nice mix!!! Never had a australorp. heard they are pretty gentile and great with kids.

They are probably my most shy babies right now. Definitely at the bottom of the pecking order unfortunately. They are adorable though. I'm hoping to be able to get them more friendly but well see. My female Plymouth has taken a liking to me and oddly enough, my Plymouth rooster likes to sit with the baby.

Hey my Maryland peeps,

Just started our little flock in Easton MD. We are within City limits off Dutchman's Lane. I don't know of anyone else in the area raising chickens in their backyard Anyone out there in our area? I'd love to see your flock and hear how your neighbors have reacted.

Hello all!

I am in Baltimore City, and I am considering starting my own little flock. I've done my fair share of research, and I think I can handle pretty much anything that might come up, but I am really concerned about the processing end of things.

I know that it sometimes has to happen, for culling/injury/etc., but I know myself and this isn't something I am going to be able to do myself. Does anyone know of a processor in Maryland who would do small batch processing?

Of course, I am REALLY hopeful that I will never have to use their services, but I want to know the service is there in case I were to need it. I know I'm a wimp, but going DIY on this is simply not going to happen :hmm As I mentioned, this is really the last hurdle I need to get myself and my husband over before we can get our own chickens!

Thanks!
