Tomorrow i will hopefully start building my coop! We have to measure to see if there is enough space, and if there is, chickens all the way! Then time for my new pullets! I am sooooo excited! I've been bitten by the chicken bug!

Hi Marylanders! Glad you found your way to this thread.

We are thisclose to getting to move to our new home in Mt. Airy. We closed 2 weeks ago and it's been a flurry of cleaning (it was a foreclosure, and while they didn't trash the house, they didn't scrub it after moving) and fencing. We have the fence 95% done, and my husband is planning to finish it tonight. Once that is done, I can move the horses this week and the family, including chickens, can follow. I hope to start a coop this week. Having chicks in the house is getting old. It's been a slow process because the new house is 2 hours away from the old...I spend a lot of time driving back and forth.

Hi all! I have a 1yr. Old MILLE FLEUR rooster free to a good home, maybe for someone in 4H? He is from parents imported from France. Thought it was a girl my neighbors are complaining about his 4am wake up! I will b sorry to let him go, but don't want to risk losing the girls.

Hello. I am in Clarksburg. I don't know about variants. I just went ahead and bought a few hens thinking it is better to beg forgiveness than ask permission (especially in THIS county). I've had them about 4 years now with no complaints. A few of the neighbors are amused by them, especially the kids. A gentleman from Beallsville told me the other day that everyone in the county can have up to 5 hens. I was unable to find any solid information on the county web site.
