Mash or Crumbles?

I went to the grain store today to pick up medicated chick starter, and was told I needed mash at first and then I can switch them to crumbles. So I bought a bag of each, is this correct? Thanks

if they are chicks i used cumbles never used mash.....if they are layers 18 weeks plus some feed a layer mash....I used layer crumbles.....maybe someone else will say different but i didn't know they made mash for chicks

I have an order in for day old chicks, they'll be here in a week. I went to get crumbles (thought I had read to get that on here) but the woman said chicks needed mash and that crumbles were too big for them. So, I did what she said. Should I bring the mash back and just use crumbles? I bought 25# for the 12 chicks.

I have 35 healthy birds ( 9 of them are currently chicks) and all my birds were and are fed crumbles.
