So my four birds have eaten mash since we got them as hatchlings. I recently switched to pellets and I have noticed my feeder stays full much longer. My observation is that they waste much less pellets than mash and they are probably eating just as much. Is this what others have found?

Exactly!

After they moved on from chick starter, I bought pellets.. My chickens would not eat the pellets at all until they were older.. 20 weeks or more.. so I gave them mash and finally just used up the bag of pellets that they refused before.... They do waste a lot of mash, so I was thinking of switching to pellets and have mash on hand too... a little variety.. :)
