Those big black beauties are Black Australorps. I love em. Great layers, friendly and not too noisy...they will talk to you some though. they have an awesome green irridescent color on the feathers like a green sheen.

I got reminded yesterday about oatmeal so I made some this morning for the first time since last winter. They loved it and I had forgotten how much I like it, and how nicely it cooks all by itself while I'm sweatin' to the Oldies.

The way these girls eat I sometimes wonder. I look at them sometimes and say "You're all pigs...pigs with feathers!" They just bok bagok at me and keep eating.

There are 32 total (oops 31 now

) and they eat an easy 50lbs per week plus their hot breakfasts and treats. Pigs I tell ya, Pigs with feathers!
