One of my Australorps laid her first egg today, and it is the size of a pretty standard store bought egg. I feel bad that this was her first egg! My other Australorp that just started laying has been having eggs barely bigger than a Robin's egg, and my EEs that have been laying for two-ish weeks have eggs that are probably 2/3rds the size of store bought eggs. They started small and have been gradually getting bigger. This girl decided to start big! Unfortunately I don't know which one it is as there are two left to start laying and both have been showing interest in the nesting boxes the last couple of days.

How old is she? The older they are when they start laying the more likely they are for the eggs to be a bit bigger.

When pullets first start to lay some strange eggs. The process of putting the egg together is fairly complicated, I'm surprised at how many get it correct to start with. It is relatively common to have thin-shelled or shell-less eggs, double yolkers, no yolkers with only whites, yolks only with no whites, deformed shells, two or more eggs in one day, or just otherwise strange eggs. These usually straighten out in a few days as they get the bugs out of that process. So be patient.

That egg does not look all that large but it could be a double yolker. The tiny egg was probably a yolk only or a whites only. They are still good to eat and should straighten out in a few days. What you describe is fairly normal.
