for the wife wondering about her hubbys peanut butter habit of leaving the lid off....

i say...put the lid on...it's oxygen that breaks peanut butter down says the link....but can keep up to 9-12 months.

I doubt you have your pb that long...

On the Today Show they said that Peanut Butter Jars were not in this. So we are safe on the jars of peanut butter. It is the other products with peanut butter in them.

I am like Cetawin, there is ALWAYS a jar of peanut butter in our pantry. (jif is my favorite)

I live about 15 minutes from one of the plants that has had to shut it's doors because of this. This plant normally ships to nursing homes, school's and places like that. I don't think we have had anybody get sick in our town from it though.
I am a huge fan of peanut butter. I am glad to hear that it does not affect the jar's.

How does the salmonella even happen in the plant? Unclean equipment?
