We currently have one female goose who is broody and sitting on a clutch of unfertilized eggs. We plan to buy goslings in a week for her to adopt.

My question is, I want her to have a mate to breed more geese later. Would she eventually mate up with one of the goslings we buy, or should I buy a separate adult male?

Many years ago I had a human imprinted gander. I got some goslings, and within 24 hours he adopted them and forgot his love for me. He eventually mated with one of the geese. I would guess that your goose will do the same thing.

I put two day-old gosling under my broody goose last year. One survived and he turned out to be a gander. This spring they're a couple as if they've always been.

My goose is human imprinted, too. She still loves my company (they both do), but she accepts being alone with the gander.
