I got some fabric from freecycle and it smells like an old house. A lot of it is tapestry. What can I do get the smell out of it.

If you have a clothesline, try hanging it outside for awhile. Other than that, I have no idea. Maybe google tapestry fabric and how to clean it. Good Luck!

can you machine wash it on gentle cycle (and use the laundry soap recipe on here that uses the Fels Naphtha soap? It does a REALLY good job of removing odors from fabrics) Hang it on the line to air dry and that will also help. If it isn't washable, have it dry cleaned or use Febreze extra strength on it. Hope you can remedy that situation so you can use your fabric!

If you can fit it in a lawn and leaf bag put it in one with a couple of bars of dial soap. It has to be the gold colored bar. Let it sit in there for a week.

Wash it with 1/2 cup baking soda and your regular laundry detergent and rinse with white vinegar/water in the rinse cycle. You may want to soak it overnight in the baking soda/laundry detergent mixture before washing. That should get the smell out.
