So I am finalizing my coop design:

and am wondering about materials. I have tried looking for used stuff from craigslist and am not having much luck. I figure I need about 8 sheets of plywood. I can get exterior 1/2 inch CDX @ 15.50 delivered, and about 14 to 20 2 x 4's, depending how many openings I frame out. I plan on using asphalt shingles for the roof, which I have laying around. With roof overhangs, will paint suffice for the walls, and what kind? Other suggestions on materials?

We used material from pallets. FREE! We did have to buy some plywood and 2x4s as well. For painting the inside use an exterior porch/patio paint for easier cleanup. I left the outside unpainted, but may stain or paint it red.

Before the ecconomy went south, it was possible to visit developements, where homes, townhouses, apts, etc were being constructed and, after getting permission, cart off plywood and other scrap building materials in truckloads. The supervisor didn`t mind as he didn`t have to pay someone to pick it up and put it in an expensive dumpster. You may still find it possible, depending on where you live........Pop

I did find 1/2 inch CDX for $5 a sheet at a local yard, slightly weathered but in good shape. Time to start building. I do have another about snow in the run which I think I will start on another thread.
