Hi all, I'm wondering what to use to make my coop and run cleaner and nicer. It is currently a bit unpleasant to be near, and we need a new system. I know a lot of you will tell me to clean it more often, but I'm still in school and my parents both work. We don't have a very large area, as we live in the suburbs, but its large enough that it would be a little too time consuming to clean more than once every 2-3 weeks. We have friends that use straw, but we find that it gets a bit slick and gross if not changed often. Some other friends of ours use wood shavings in a small space and clean it often... What do you recommend for our solution?

Deep litter method for the run. If your coop has a dirt floor you can do the same in there.
You can make poop boards for you coop, if you don't have them. They are quick and easy to keep clean.
For my coop i use pine pine shavings & the run is deep litter.

The floor of our coop and run is actually just dirt. I have an old garden that use once a week to turn over the dirt. No smell. We also have a chicken tunnel that lead out to their grass and forage area. I just let the sprinkler wash down that area.
