I just signed up on that site and if it keeps going it's going to be wonderful!! I made a reply too,,,, Nifty you need to start a new post about the site, it would help a lot of people on here. I get questions and emails all the time asking about help with homework and it's usually in math!

How much do you pay for gas over in UK?

Doing the math... it looks like 'petrol' in the UK is selling for about $8.60 per gallon!

No way!!!! That's alot of money. However, Europe and GB have excellent public transportation, It's difficult to find a place that you can't take a train or bus . It would sure save the US alot of bucks.

Most of the price of gas in Europe is taxes. They use the money to fund their socialist societies. I heard once that in some Scandinavian country, the tax on a new car is 95%.

You would save about $145.45 / year if you switch cars. You would save $2,400.00/ year if he drove the 25 mpg car and you kept yours. It would take about 4 years to make up for the cost of the car.

Other things for you to consider:
How much $ will you get for your husband's car?
How much less will you spend for repairs on the "new" old car?
How much more will it cost to insure the "new" old car?
Gas prices are most likely going up.

One pleasant surprise I got when we bought a new car was that our insurance premium went down because it was so much cheaper. It will probably more expensive for your switch in cars though.

Well we weren't thinking of selling our cars, just getting a another car, used, that doesn't guzzle gas. I'm not sure it's worth it. If it would pay for itself in 2 years, I would consider it.
