mating call

Do both male and female do the call? Or is it just the males?

Depends on the quail. Both Bob males and females have their calls with the cock being the bob-white caller. With most of the other types of quail I have raised, the male is the caller.

Interesting note: Bobwhites will "bob-bob-white" before mating and "bob-white" after mating.

Then the males will be calling. To me it sounds like they are screaming "Look at me!"
