I have a 2 year old bourbon red male and 2 bourbon red hens in a coop. It is mating season and the male has gotten a little bit aggressive. With this being said he has created an open wound on the back of one of the hens. We separated them and have dressed the wound. From day one of the attack she has not been able to put any weight on her left leg. We are 5 days in and she is able to lift herself up but has to balance on the right leg and still will not put any weight on the left leg. She keeps the left foot curled up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do regarding her leg/foot? Would this injury be associated with the open wound on her back since she may just be very sore? I am really concerned about her and want to insure that I am doing everything possible for her to have a speedy recovery.
