Mating Injury

Hi! My 5 1/2 month old Red hen is starting to accumulate some injuries on her comb from Marmalade the rooster's beak. My wife saw the rooster gripping the hen's comb in his beak while mating with her recently.

What can I do to deter this? The other two amaericauna hens don't seem to be incurring the same injuries from the rooster.

Is Neo-sporin ok for hens?

Hello! That is typical breeding behavior. This hen might be your rooster's favorite, so he may be breeding her more often. If you got a few more hens, that might give him a distraction.
