Heart of Dixie
I have several ducks, most are still babies or at the most teens, but I was just wondering:

I have two beautiful mallard females, A female brown runner-type, a female black swede, And another one (I don't know what she is, yellow and black with a speckled head) I also have 13 new muscovie ducklings. When everyone is grown and ready for "action" will the muscovy drakes take care of everyone? or do I need to seek out other drakes? I'm not looking to breed or show them, so mutts are ok with me. Mostly I just wanted some eggs and maybe meat ducks.

i read on other post that muscovie males tend stick with their breed. i've heard that they will go outside their breeds, but not like other breeds of drakes will. hope this doesn't confuse you.

Supposedly those little mules make some of the best meat ducks ever. And the Muscovies make the best mommas, two or three big clutches a season! You could be eating duck every night.
I know duck is really good, I've eaten it, (but not since I've become a duck owner). Kinda wish I could get over it - but I kinda don't at the same time.

MUAHAHAHA!!! I love duck - tastes very good.

Mostly get it at the chinese restaurant, but we did butcher one drake that thought he was a chicken. He was afraid of the big ducks, and hated swimming.

I was like, "That's no life for a duck..."
But he was a tasty morsel. xD

Does this make me a bad person? Breed the best, eat the rest, right?
