Obviously, I new to chicken keeping. Out of my first flock of 5 Silkies, I definitely have 2 Cockerels. I think I have a third but it's a small chicken with a crooked beak. Yesterday, my buff cockerel "attacked" my little crooked beak chicken by jumping on it's back grabbing it's neck and comb and pulling it repeatedly. I was terrified he was killing it. (The reason is, a month ago someone plucked all of this chicks feathers from the top of its head overnight). I chased him off. Then a few minutes later, he jumped on the back of one of the pullets. So I get on youtube and see that this was not an attack...it was his mating attempt. So shocking to this new chicken keeper!
