Mating...

One of our Buff Orpington roosters has been trying all day to mate with one of our guinea hens... will that work? The guinea hen is not old enough... I was just wondering for when she is older.

Yes I believe so. I hear that roosters can mate guinea hens but guinea cocks can't mate chicken hens. I also hear that the offspring is infertile. I've seen my roosters (Especially the young roosters) try to mate the guinea hens, but they just don't know how lol.

Yes it is possible lol. I had some chicks about the size of a quail and one of them ( a cockrel) kept trying to mate with a female..... haha

He's already starting it this morning... poor guinea, we have 5 guineas and I "think" only 1 of them is a hen.... got to keep watching em to see.
