I know it is common for the first egg a young pullet to lay to be smaller than normal, but what about a 1yr old hen that has been laying normal size eggs. With the high heat, egg laying has slowed to a trickle, somedays getting one or two eggs, some days none and then the next day all six laying. This morning we found 4 normal eggs and one egg not much bigger than a Robins, what could this be a sign of?

Normal - What probably happened is a piece of the overy broke off & the inside of the bird will wrap a shell on anything that passes through. Shouldn't last too long -
